Hillary in the Middle
Hillary did a good job of laying low and staying in the middle of most all topics that came up in tonight's debate. Brian Williams asked her to speculate on the right-wing's 'vitriolic' distaste for her and I thought she did a pretty good job deflecting it and turning it into a form of flattery. I thought at that moment that only one other politician could turn a comment around like that - her husband.
Highlights of the debate included some great comments from senior Alaska Senator and Presidential candidate Mike Gravel. At one point he called himself something like 'the potted plant in the corner'. He actually had some great points and made Kucinich seem like a middle of the road Democrat.
As far as Real Men issues go, gun control was talked about and it was nice to see almost all candidates clarifying their support for 2nd Amendment rights. Most concern laid with mentally ill persons obtaining firearms and a little remorse over the lapse in the assault gun ban. This is obviously an important issue for most Americans lately because of the VT shootings but I worry about more laws that could actually make things worse.
